LOST SPRINGS – Winning all three of their games at the Centre Cougar Classic, the Elyria Christian girls took the tournament championship trophy on Saturday with a 15-point, 45-30 win over Rural Vista.
LOST SPRINGS – Saturday evening the Elyria Christian boys made it a clean sweep for Elyria Christian as they joined the Lady Eagles as champions of the Centre Cougar Classic with a 30-point romp over Class 3A Douglass, 65-35.
Although the true Mid America Classic championship game won’t be played until Saturday night, a championship-caliber game was played in Friday night’s semifinals as McPherson lost 56-48 to St. James Academy after a fourth-quarter charge fell short.

On Jan. 25, Governor Laura Kelly announced that 10 Kansas communities will be receiving grants to help create Family Resource Centers. These funds granted by the Kansas Department for Children and Families are meant to lessen the need for families to have formal contact with the agency.
AmeriCorps estimates that volunteers in Kansas generate $1.4 billion in economic value for the state, based on 2021 survey of civic engagement and volunteerism. Volunteer Kansas announced nearly 707,000 volunteers served 53.1 million hours in Kansas between September 2020 and 2021 despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Volunteering and Civic Life in America research.The research also estimates that volunteers generated nearly $1.4 billion in economic value in the Kansas.
The first Friday of every month through May, McPherson College will be at The Cedars Conference Center at 3 p.m. According to Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations Monica Rice, who also currently coordinates the First Friday Program, they have been happening since at least Spring of 2013, making this the 10th year.
