Natividad Cabrera, MD, age 92, known affectionately as Naty to her friends, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023 in Fort Collins, CO, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 22, 1930 in the Philippines to Pacifico and Gertrudes Visarra Ruiz, the second youngest of nine children. She attended the University of Santo Tomas, where she received her Medical Doctorate. During her medical training, she met the love of her life and eventual husband of 60 years, Albert Cabrera. She practiced as an obstetrician/gynecologist and became the head of the Gynecology department at Iloilo Provincial Hospital in the Philippines. They eventually emigrated to the United States with their seven children in 1974, living first in New York City and then eventually to Kansas and then Colorado. She practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Elkhart, Kansas and McPherson, Kansas and was loved by everyone in the communities she served. Naty and Bert retired to Loveland, Colorado in 2000 to be near their beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing golf with Bert, playing mahjong, and traveling around the world. Naty was a dedicated physician, practicing until she was almost 70 years old, and managed to raise 7 children while working full time. She was a hard worker but also a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest asset was the ability to laugh at herself and not take things too seriously. She was a kind and gentle soul who made friends easily and was generous to all she met. She was a wonderful role model, showing her children how to be driven and work hard, yet remain compassionate, loving, and generous. She is preceded in death by her husband Bert and all eight of her siblings.
