It was an exciting week for three McPherson area high school basketball programs as the Moundridge boys secured a Class 2A state title for retiring head coach Vance Unrau and both the Elyria Christian boys and Canton/Galva girls had the opportunity to taste state tournament excitement though both exited early.
In a similar fashion to the McPherson boys, the Lady Pups projected to be one of the last teams standing in the 2022-23 season after coming into the season as the No. 3 ranked team in class 4A.

On March 7, at the City of McPherson Commission Meeting, McPherson Fire Department Fire Chief TJ Wyssmann presented the new recruit Fire Fighter Kadyn Schmidt and promotion of Seth Graham. The recent Chamber Connection took place at the McPherson Senior Center on March 9. Sally Scott, Director of the Senior Center, is originally from California and said she has moved to Kansas six times.
This year, McPherson Community Theatre (MCT) will be performing “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!” as their summer musical. They will be holding auditions for all roles March 25th from 10-4 and March 26th from 1-4 at Central Christian College’s Wesley Black fine arts center, 1200 S Main Street, McPherson. Community members age 14 and up are encouraged to audition.
