Tree replenishment plan for Lakeside Park

The City of McPherson Tree Board met to discuss the Lakeside Park Tree Master Plan on May 16 where it was later approved and then on May 23, the plan was also approved at the City Commission Meeting. Public Lands and Facilities Director Wayne Burns, Commissioner of Public Lands and Facilities Gary Mehl, along with other Tree Board members Gary Flory, Kendra Flory, Kurt Wagner, Bonnie Hoffman, and Jan Hurst met to look over the map drawn up by Kansas Forester Tim McDonnell, outlining tree replenishment throughout Lakeside Park.

SALINA, Kansas – Prior to the 2022 season, the McPherson High School baseball team had never hung a championship banner. Now, after winning their first title in 2022, the Bullpups made it back-to-back class 4A state championships following their 6-0 win over Chanute in Friday’s title game at Dean Evans Stadium.

Flame of Hope will Travel Through McPherson

Officers from the McPherson Police Department and McPherson Sheriff ’s Department will carry the Special Olympics Kansas Flame of Hope on June 2nd on a 1.5 mile run along Main Street beginning at 9:45 a.m. The run is part of a 1,600-mile journey for the Flame of Hope across Kansas as part of the ceremonial 2023 Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics Kansas.

Annual fishing derby set

For 21 years, the annual Moundridge Youth Fishing Derby has provided family time, friendly competition, and enjoyment. This year’s derby, which is sponsored by the City of Moundridge and the Moundridge Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 9 a.m.
