A special tradition of the May Fete (aside from the May Fete royalty) is the Winding of the May Pole. This year the May Pole Winding will be done by the St. Joseph Catholic School 5th and 6th graders.
Frances L. Pauls passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly home at the age of 97, on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Harvest House, Pleasant View Home, in Inman, Kansas. Frances was born on January 6, 1926, to Isaac D. Dirks and Marie (Janzen) Dirks. She grew up south of Buhler, attended Willow Grove Grade School and graduated from Buhler High School. Frances trusted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Finamore Lake southeast of Buhler. On October 24, 1944, Frances was united in marriage to John R. Pauls of Inman. They had 4 children and enjoyed 58 wonderful years together. Frances enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and preparing wonderful meals. She loved flowers and would plant big flower gardens. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Labette County Sheriff’s Office continue their search for Dakota A. Patton, the 23-year-old man who was last seen the evening of April 25, in Parsons, Kansas. Foul play is suspected in Patton’s disappearance.
