Sheriff hires new deputy

At seven feet two inches tall, McPherson County Sherriff Jerry Montagne says David King is a huge asset to the McPherson County Sheriff ’s Department. King started at the department in January and graduated from the 310th class at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) on June 9, with Sheriff Montagne, Undersheriff Bergstrom, and Patrol Captain Scott attending.

Golden recognized

Dr. Melissa Walker, Director of Hugo Wall School, and Dr. Mercy Umeri, Coordinator of the Mini Master of Public Administration (MiniMPA) Program, from the Hugo Wall School of Public attended the City Commission meeting to recognize Mikel Golden, Police Chief, for his completion of the MiniMPA Class of 2023 at Wichita State University.

McPherson celebrates Pride

McPHERSON— On Saturday, June 10, McPherson residents celebrated the fourth annual Pride Festival in a wave of color along the 100 block of East Marlin Street. With McPherson Police providing an escort, participants in McPherson’s Pride Festival marched down Marlin Street from Linnea Park to the McPherson Community Building.
