“Oklahoma!” opens this weekend

McPherson Community Theatre presents “Oklahoma!” June 16, 17, 23, & 24 at 7:30 PM and June 18 & 25 at 2:00 PM at the McPherson Opera House. In a western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story.

Country Cousin’s June Club Meeting

INMAN - The Country Cousins 4-H Club’s annual club member farm tour and meeting with pizza was held on Sunday, June 4, 2023. The farm tour started at Evan Sawyer’s house where he showed the club his bucket calf, KJ. Then the club went to Dane and Veda Ayers’ house where Dane showed the club his plants, quail, and chickens. Then at Stockton and Thane Foster’s house Thane showed everybody his calf, Disney, and Stockton showed everybody his dirt bike. Next at the Reiff ’s house AJ showed the club her pigs, Macy showed the club her steers, then Laney and Nora showed the group their goats. For the final stop on the tour, Addison Wedel showed the club her dog and her sheep.

More often than not, Doug could be spotted wearing the color purple and spent many fall Saturdays Douglas Steven “Doug” cheering on his K-State Wildcats traveling to games in Anderson, 69, of Lindsborg Manhattan, on the road, and bowl games. His purple passed away Sunday, June pickup truck is recognizable to all of Lindsborg and he 4, 2023. Doug was born was easy to spot on game day in his lucky purple camo pants.

Sandra Lorraine “Sandy” Garber, 66, of Marquette passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS. Sandy was born November 3, 1956 in Salina, KS to the late Robert and the late Alice (Terry) Martin. After graduating high school in 1975, Sandy married Robert D. Garber. Sandy worked for a while as a school cafeteria worker, but was primarily and wife and mother. She is survived by her daughter: Melissa Garber of McPherson, KS; sister: Robin Albers (Roy) of Smolan, KS; brothers: Charles Martin of Marquette, KS, Scott Martin of Marquette, KS, and LeRoy Martin of Marquette, KS; as well as grandchildren: Robert Faircloth and Makenzie Faircloth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son: Samuel Garber. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13 from 5-7PM at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS. The funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at Elim Lutheran Church, 403 N Lincoln St, Marquette, KS with Pastor Amy Kay Pavlovich officiating.

Youth Rodeo kicks off 2023 season

CANTON – One of the 2023 spring/summer events that not many seem to know about in the McPherson Area is the rodeo season for the Central Kansas Youth Rodeo Association (CKYRA). Back in May over the weekend of May 13-14, the CKYRA kicked off their 2023 season with an event that featured 25 McPherson County youth competitors.
