With improving the lives of its residents in mind, The Cedars, located at 1021 Cedars Drive, has upgraded its assisted living community area. The need to create a gathering area for residents of The Cedars Community served as the driving force behind the renovation.

Aaron Spare, a 31-year-old resident of McPherson, was traveling north on I-135 on June 3 when he struck a deer close to mile marker 87. The deer was killed when it went through Spare’s 2010 Toyota Corolla’s windshield. Spare is fine.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun a resurfacing project on about 13 miles of U.S. 56 in McPherson County. A mill and overlay on U.S. 56 will occur from the K-153/U.S. 56 junction and continue west to the Rice/McPherson County line. During construction, flaggers and a pilot car will direct one lane of traffic through the work zone. Drivers should be prepared for a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules. Pearson Construction LLC. of Wichita is the prime contractor for this $4.7 million project which is scheduled for completion by September, weather permitting. KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. WINFIELD, Kansas – The close of the McPherson High School boys golf season saw medals hanging from the necks of two Bullpup golfers, as senior Trakker French (fifth place) and junior Blaise Hoover (tied 22nd place) each went top 25 at the class 4A state golf tournament on May 22 through 23.
