Costly turnovers key in Bulldogs’ loss to Bethel

NEWTON, Kansas – A trip to Bethel ended in defeat for the second straight season for the McPherson College football team Saturday night, as four crucial turnovers and key missed fourth-down attempts resulted in a 33-24 loss for the Bulldogs coming out of their bye week.Last season’s trip to Bethel was McPherson’s season opener, but the Threshers held off the Bulldogs to come away with the 14-13 win.

Finishing strong: Volleyball rides momentum into final week

After a strong performance at the annual McPherson Invitational ended in a second-place finish, the Lady Pups volleyball team swept their way through a home triangular Tuesday and finished second overall in the Anderson County Invitational last weekend to improve to 25-9 on the season.A 4-1 showing by McPherson in their own invitational two weekends ago resulted in a second-place finish, as their only loss would be to tournament champion Bishop Carroll in the championship match.
