Middle School wrestling drops dual to Great Bend
GREAT BEND, Kansas – The McPherson Middle School wrestling team took its four-dual winning streak to Great Bend prior to the Thanksgiving break last Tuesday, but the Bullpups’ streak was snapped as Great Bend bested McPherson 57-53.After starting the season with a 0-1-1 record in duals with a tie against Wellington and 72-32 loss to Prairie Hills on Tuesday, November 7, McPherson rebounded by winning its next four duals while also medaling eight wrestlers in the Valley Center Middle School Invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday, November 11.However, McPherson’s streak of four straight duals won was snapped on Tuesday, November 21 prior to the Thanksgiving break as Great Bend edged out the Bullpups 57-53.Kolson Barrow, Micah Foster, Carter Rinker, MJ Burkes, Baylor Boesker, Max Crane, Graham Prescott, Logan Starks, Ethan Young, Colt Harlin and EJ Sellens were the 11 Bullpup wrestlers that left the dual with a match victory.Hunter Aldredge, Kynasen Hancock, Jake Evans, Julian Moore, Seth Turner and Nico Monday also competed for McPherson, but all six wrestlers lost their respective matches.On the JV side, just one of the five wrestlers came away with a win as Ace Aichele in the 85-pound weight class came away with two victories – one as a win by fall and the second as a win by decision (8-7).The loss drops McPherson’s season record in duals to 4-2-1.McPherson vs Great Bend Dual Results:70lb.
