Builders escape Bulldogs in season finale

WINFIELD, Kansas – A season that began full of promise ended in heartbreaking fashion, as the McPherson College football team dropped its final game of the season last Saturday with a last-minute 28-21 loss to Southwestern in Winfield.After finishing with a 6-4 record in their 2022 campaign a season ago, the Bulldogs entered the 2023 season with a plethora of returning firepower on both sides of the ball.

Cinderella Pups end run with fourth place finish

WICHITA, Kansas – A second dream postseason in as many years came to a close last Saturday, but this time the slipper did not fit the McPherson High School buys soccer team as comfortably as the Bullpups fell to both Bishop Ward and Wichita Trinity Academy last weekend to take fourth place at the class 4A-1A state soccer tournament.As if someone were watching the same movie all over again, McPherson navigated its way to a second straight magical postseason run in an eerily similar fashion to last season.

Bullpup athletes earn postseason honors

With the conclusion of the 2023 high school fall sports season approaching quickly, many athletes across the McPherson High School fall sports teams have made their way onto all-league and all-state teams to cap off their seasons.McPherson High School Girls Tennis:First-Team All-State: Riggs Kuhn | Brodie KuhnOn the tennis courts, the Lady Pups finished the season as state runners-up in class 4A as all six players earned a state medal.

Friends of Maxwell celebrates 30 years

Friends of Maxwell (FoM) celebrated their 30th year being an open to the public nonprofit 501c3 organization on November 10 with a ceremony at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge Visitor’s Center.FoM assists the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) in fulfilling the Maxwell family’s dream of preserving a piece of the prairie with a roaming herd of bison for future generations to experience Kansas as it was in the 1800s.“We wanted to present a plaque to the founders and KDWP, the directors and managers, birders, and native plant people who have done so much over the years in recording facts on the refuge and helping preserve this wonderful piece of land,” said Trisha Smith Friends of Maxwell Director.
