Four Bullpup bowlers go top twenty at state

TOWANDA, Kansas – The McPherson High School boys and girls bowling teams closed out their season on Wednesday, February 28 at the class 4A-1A state bowling tournament, as the McPherson boys took sixth place and the McPherson girls finished in eighth place.McPherson Boys:Out of the eight teams at the class 4A-1A boys state bowling meet, McPherson finished in sixth place with a team series score of 2977 (including baker score), which was 141 pins clear of seventh-place finisher and rival Buhler (2836) and 88 pins shy of fifth-place finisher Topeka-Hayden (3065).Following regionals, the entire McPherson boys team qualified for state which included bowlers Alex Wheat, Karter Hundley, Jace Godwin, Rayce Stiggins, Carsen Bruce and Logan Jackson.

Area roundup: Three county schools prep for state

As we enter the first full week of March, the sub-state basketball tournaments are over, and three area teams are now prepping to make runs at state titles.While the Moundridge boys and Little River girls both scored sub-state championships in Class 2A and Class 1A Division I just as many were expecting, the Canton/Galva boys scored upset wins over the top three seeds in their sub-state to qualify for the state tournament in the Class 1A Division I as well.As defending Class 2A state champions, the Moundridge Wildcats (20-3) will be third seed as they begin defense of their state title on Thursday, March 7 when they tangle with Jefferson City North (16-7).
