Bullpups complete six games in six days
A second quad in three days resulted in the same record for the McPherson baseball team after coming away with a split, losing game one 9-1 to Iola and winning game two 4-2 over El Dorado on Friday, April 19.Three days prior to Friday’s competition at Grant Sports Complex, McPherson hosted its first quad of the season by welcoming in Rose Hill, Emporia and Great Bend.
Lady Pups drop state title rematch amidst busy week
A rematch of last year’s class 4A state softball championship game between McPherson and Wamego took place at Grant Sports Complex on Friday and despite the Lady Pups losing the rematch 3-1, McPherson came away from Friday’s quad with a split.The 2023 4A softball state champion was decided in a one-run game as Wamego defeated McPherson 1-0 in a thriller.
Chamber offers volunteer opportunities
The McPherson Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of the new volunteer section of their website in honor of National Volunteer Week, which takes place from April 21–27.
Area roundup: Three county track and field athletes lead state
It was another busy week for the McPherson County has the six smaller schools had 29-plus events played out.With just a couple of weeks left in the regular track/field season before regional and state meets, three area athletes currently lead the state in an event according to KsMileSplit.com.
