Spice Up Your Life is a weekly recipe column by Lindsey Young, who describes herself as an enthusiastic amateur cook and can be reached through her website at spiceupkitchen.net.Something I probably haven’t mentioned often is that I have a constant helper in the kitchen when I try recipes for this column.Sometimes she gets to sample something, and sometimes she is informed that the particular creation at hand is “not good for puppies.”Regardless, our 15-year-old schnauzer, K.C., hopefully follows me around the kitchen or gazes at me from a good napping spot, hoping I will be clumsy enough to drop something or gracious enough to share.Often, she gets lucky, and this week’s recipe is one of her favorite kinds: one that only uses half an egg.

Bullpups sweep Andale on senior day

After winning a second title in as many seasons and graduating eight seniors from that team, with four of which going on to play in college, the McPherson High School baseball team will be hosting regionals for the fourth straight year after sweeping Andale Tuesday evening.Of McPherson’s eight seniors that graduated last season, six of which were starters.

Lady Pups soccer finds its stride

SALINA, Kansas – If there is one thing to grow accustomed to in the waning moments of the high school spring sports season, it’s watching the McPherson Lady Pups hit their stride entering postseason play as McPherson takes a three-game winning streak into regionals on Tuesday, May 14.McPherson began its 2024 season in the same way it has over the past few years – with plenty of promise and talent.

Defying odds: Bullpup tennis takes fifth at state

TOPEKA, Kansas – The first of the six McPherson High Schol spring sports programs ended its season over the weekend as a gritty performance by the Bullpups’ boys tennis team landed McPherson a tie for fifth place in the class 4A state tournament at Topeka’s Kossover Tennis Center.Prior to the start of the 2024 spring tennis season, McPherson was staring a season full of unknowns in the face.

Area roundup: County schools enter postseason play

The 2024 spring season has wound down and the six McPherson County area smaller schools have all reached the time for post-season play.All six of the area track/field teams will be in action on Thursday, May 16 at their specific state regional track meets.Little River, Canton/Galva, and Elyria Christian will all be in Greensburg for their Class 1A State Regionals while Inman and Moundridge will travel to Eureka for their Class 2A State Regionals.
