CANTON, Kansas – The annual return of Point Guard U (PGU) has hit Canton-Galva High School this week as the prestigious multi-state camp is playing host to 125-plus campers for a week full of basketball growth involving numerous well-known coaches and players throughout the state of Kansas.Eight summers ago in the small town of Sharon Springs, Kansas, a town that has a population of just 751 people (according to a 2020 census), a basketball camp was born that would eventually stretch to five different states across the country – Point Guard U.The camp was founded by current Canton-Galva High School athletic director and head boys basketball coach Larry O’Connor and his son, Kyle O’Connor, while also being aided by lead PGU instructor Rob Cahill.

The annual McPherson City Golf Tournament took place two weekends ago from Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16 at three different courses in the McPherson County area, as Jake Lackey took home first place.The McPherson City Golf Tournament has had a traditional rotation between the McPherson Country Club, Rolling Acres Golf Course and Turkey Creek Golf Course as the three courses played over the three-day period (total par of 211).
