16U Pups break even at Wichita tourney

WICHITA, Kansas – Coming off a dominant championship run in the Kaiden Schroeder Tournament, the McPherson Bullpups 16U summer baseball team came away from the loaded ICT Underclass Elite 16 tournament with a 2-2 record.McPherson started off the summer on fire by winning seven of their first eight games, with the lone loss coming to the Wichita Wood Ducks on Friday, May 31 in a 12-0 decision.

Bulldogs’ Beltran finalist for prestigious award

One of the most decorated men’s tennis players in Bulldog history is in the hunt for another prestigious honor, as McPherson College’s Michael Beltran was announced a finalist for the Wichita Greater Area Sports Commission Male Athlete of the Year Award.A senior who is also a native of Ibague, Tolima, Columbia, Beltran ended his collegiate carer by becoming just the second McPherson College men’s tennis player to earn all-American honors twice in their carer.In his senior and final season with the Bulldogs, Beltran went 9-3 in his matches, which included a 7-1 mark against conference opponents.

16U Pups honor Schroeder with title

One of the most beloved figures in the city of McPherson was honored with a championship this past Saturday through one of his most cherished sports, as the McPherson 16U summer baseball team took home the title in the annual Kaiden Schroeder Memorial Tournament.On Friday, December 1 in 2017, McPherson lost one of its biggest heroes when 12-year-old Kaiden Schroeder died following an eight-year battle with leukemia.

PGU to make return to Canton-Galva

The annual Point Guard U (PGU) basketball camp will be making its annual return to Canton-Galva High School on June 24, as players from youth through high school are encouraged to attend.PGU was initially started by current Canton-Galva athletic director and head boys basketball coach Larry O’Connor and his son Kyle in Sharon Springs, Kansas eight summers ago.Now, in 2024, there are 10 different PGU camps across the country in five different states including Kansas, Colorado, Michigan, Indiana and New York.On June 24, Canton-Galva will play host to a four-day PGU camp.

StepMC seeks volunteers

StepMC is looking for volunteers to provide meals for programming on Monday evenings in Moundridge for 20-30 people, and Thursday evenings in McPherson for 100-120 people.These meals give our investigators and leaders a chance to have a family meal together that supports the building of relationships needed to transform lives.
