Tiger Media Network interns explore custom harvesting in documentary
Every year, custom harvesters travel the country to cut wheat and other crops for farmers who don’t have the equipment or manpower to do it themselves, a service that is vital to agriculture in America.The new Tiger Media Network documentary, “Life On The Harvest Run,” explores the lives of two custom harvesting families from Kansas and what their summers on the harvest run are like.

Ladies’ Reading Circle donates plaque
Mellisa Smith, McPherson Public Library Archivist and Pam Shoemaker with the Ladies’ Reading Circle announced at Tuesday’s meeting that Library Director McKenzie Murphy and her husband added a baby girl to their family on Friday, July 26.

Bullpups release fall schedule
In what feels like just a flip of a light switch, the summer sports layoff for McPherson High School is coming to a close as the Bullpups begin their 2024-2025 school year within a month.A successful 2023-2024 sports year saw the Bullpups pull down numerous noteworthy achievements, which was highlighted by the boys basketball team earning its seventh state title in the Kurt Kinnamon era, Blaise Hoover becoming just the third state champion golfer in McPherson history and Caleb Muehler claiming McPherson’s first state title in cross country.Other top finishes for McPherson in the 2023-2024 sports year included the boys soccer team placing fourth at state, the girls tennis team finishing as runners-up at state, the volleyball team finishing as runners-up at state, the girls basketball team taking third at state, the boys golf team finishing as runners-up at state and the girls soccer team taking third at state.With the new sports season approaching quickly in August, McPherson High School has released its schedule for the fall teams and the results are as follows:Football Varsity (All Times Set for 7:00 P.M.
ABCA announces Team Academic Excellence Award winners
A plethora of success has followed the McPherson High School baseball team over the past half decade after winning a pair of state championships, but the Bullpups were the recipients of a prestigious award outside of the ball diamond as they were one of 800 teams across the country that earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award.The string of McPherson’s well-known success over the past few seasons first came to be in 2021 when the Bullpups broke the school record for most wins in a season despite failing to reach the state tournament.

Bullpups compete in High Plains Shootout
ENID, Oklahoma – A handful of high school baseball’s top athletes from Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas gathered at Enid’s David Allen Memorial Ballpark two weeks ago for a chance to represent their state and perform in front of collegiate scouts.The High Plains Shootout took place from July 15 through July 17 as two teams from each of Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas competed in the event – Kansas Red, Kansas Purple, Oklahoma Orange, Oklahoma Red, Texas Red and Texas Navy.All rosters at the event consist of underclassmen, which allowed three McPherson Bullpups to be selected to the Kansas Purple roster.Outfielder Brody Seidl, pitcher Ian Razak and catcher Carter Allen represented McPherson.
