Commissioners approve budget

Several McPherson residents attended the McPherson City Commission meeting on Tuesday to discuss the revenue neutral rate and transparency of the commission.Revenue neutral rate is the mill levy rate to generate the exact same amount of property tax dollars as the year before, using the current tax year’s total assessed valuation.

Governor Kelly, Attorney General Kobach Issue Bipartisan Letter Opposing Nebraska’s Proposed Platte-Republican Interbasin Transfer

Today, Governor Laura Kelly and Attorney General Kris Kobach issued a bipartisan letter to Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen expressing their objection to Nebraska’s proposed Platte-Republican interbasin transfer.“The proposed Platte-Republican interbasin transfer would severely damage Kansas’ finest fishing and boating destinations,” Governor Laura Kelly said.

Bullpups to launch fall season with pep rally

In the flip of a switch summer has turned to fall sports as McPherson High School is gearing up for another season of football, volleyball, cross country, girls tennis, boys soccer and girls golf with a pep rally at McPherson High School on Friday, August 23.The pep rally is open to the community and will showcase the Bullpup fall sporting programs at McPherson High School Stadium.

Bulldog baseball to host prospect camp

Although college baseball has to await another half year to make its grand return, the McPherson College baseball team is already making preparations to insure its future is bright as the Bulldogs will be hosting a prospect camp on September 22.Heading into the 2024 season, McPherson had recorded six straight seasons finishing with a record of above .500, with the last time being below that mark coming in the form of a 24-30 season in 2017.The Bulldogs’ streak of six straight winning seasons came to an end last season following a 25-28 finish, but a runner-up finish in the KCAC tournament to No.
