Bottled lightning: Bulldogs win third straight despite delay

With heavy winds and rain surrounding the start of the McPherson Bulldogs’ matchup against Ottawa Saturday evening, a different kind of lightning struck the field as McPherson captured its third straight win 31-14.With an initial kickoff time of 6:00 P.M., McPherson elected to move up its start time against Ottawa on Saturday in an attempt to avoid poor weather sweeping through the state.

Lady Pups take sixth at stacked home invite

The first and only home invitational of the regular season for the McPherson High School girls golf team resulted in a stacked field full of 92 players and 14 teams, but the Lady Pups took home sixth place as a team while three players finished inside of the top 25.Thursday’s home tournament at Turkey Creek Golf Course for McPherson was its fourth of the season.

Teutons fall short against Black Bears in delayed contest

INMAN, Kansas – Mother Nature put a stranglehold on the high school football scene Friday night as inclement weather swept across Kansas, but Inman and Sterling braved the weather delay before the Teutons eventually fell 21-20 for their first loss of the season.Inman entered Friday’s matchup with a 2-0 record following a 15-0 win over Trinity Catholic to open the season and a 26-0 win over Wichita Trinity Academy in week two.

Area roundup: Weather impacts local events

The six smaller schools of the greater McPherson County area participated in 22 events last week between football, volleyball, and cross country.Only Moundridge failed in any event as the Wildcat football team had to postpone with no scheduled makeup on Friday due to inclement weather.Here is a summary of the events at Canton/Galva, Elyria Christian, Inman, Little River, Moundridge, and Smoky Valley schools:CANTON/GALVA EAGLES =FOOTBALL = The Eagles football team improved to 2-1 for the season after defeating Wakefield 30-22 on the road on Friday.
