Area roundup: Pair of volleyball teams earn top status

Entering last week, the McPherson area smaller schools had a pair of top ranked volleyball teams with another in the top ten of their class while on the gridiron, two teams ranked in the top ten of their class.Both the Little River and Inman volleyball teams were ranked number one entering last weeks schedules, with the Lady Redskins ranked tops in Class 1A Division I and the Lady Teutons ranked number one in Class 2A.

McPherson XC completes annual Rim Rock meet

LAWRENCE, Kansas – One of the most highly-anticipated meets of the year happened this past Saturday for the McPherson High School cross country teams, as both the girls and boys competed in the annual Rim Rock meet in Lawrence, Kansas where both teams finished in 11th place.Not only does the Rim Rock meet consist of a plethora of the top talent from within Kansas but also from surrounding states as well.

Homecoming thriller: Bullpups fend off Viking rally in OT win

A 23-7 fourth-quarter lead quickly evaporated for the McPherson Bullpups after 16 unanswered points by Winfield forced overtime, but a fourth down stand at the goal line and a walk-off rushing touchdown by Brock Richardson propelled McPherson to a 29-23 win on Homecoming night.A near flawless first half by McPherson was kick-started within the game’s opening minute as Bishop Brown intercepted Winfield on its first possession of the game on third down and took it to the house for a 7-0 McPherson lead just 52 seconds in.That momentum carried McPherson to a 23-7 lead at halftime, which remained the score until the fourth quarter.
