Bullpups derailed by Newton with second half burst

NEWTON, Kansas – More building blocks were put in place Thursday evening as the McPherson High School boys soccer team clashed against 5A’s Newton on the road, but 90 seconds of soccer plagued the Bullpups once again in a 2-0 loss.McPherson came into Thursday evening’s matchup with a 4-4 record after taking down Buhler 3-0 two days prior on Tuesday, but the Bullpups’ record could’ve easily been at 6-2 if it weren’t for a pair of games where 90 seconds turned out to be their achiles heel.On September 16, a 2-0 loss to Wichita Classical was dictated by a goal by the Saints in the game’s opening 90 seconds.

Lady Pup tennis hangs tough at TOC

WICHITA, Kansas – A successful week for the McPherson High School girls tennis team was capped off over the weekend with a strong performance against the toughest tournament field the Lady Pups will see all season, as McPherson closes in on the end of their fall season.On back-to-back competition days, head coach Tyler Brown led McPherson into two of his most favorite tournaments of the year last week – the Doug Gayer Classic and the Tournament of Champions (TOC).Last Tuesday marked the day McPherson hosted its annual Doug Gayer Classic tournament, which honors the late previous McPherson High School head tennis coach Doug Gayer.
