‘Chews’ something sweet and nutty this week

Muehler claims second straight XC title

WAMEGO, Kansas – Mother Nature did all she could to prevent a repeat champion from happening at the class 4A state cross country meet on Saturday, but even rain, mud and drenched clothing did not stop McPherson’s Caleb Muehler from defending his state title as the Bullpup boys took third and the girls finished seventh.As a sophomore in 2023, Muehler pulled down McPherson’s first individual state champion in cross country since Adam Porter accomplished the same feat by taking first in class 5A in 2009.

Bulldog basketball begins new seasons

Basketball season has officially arrived for McPherson College as the Bulldog men pulled off a thrilling season-opening win over Oklahoma Panhandle State while the Bulldog women have stumbled to an 0-2 record.Men:After finishing the 2023-2024 season with an 18-11 record, the McPherson College men’s basketball team returned to the hardwood on Friday, November 1 for the first time this season where they edged out Oklahoma Panhandle State with an 80-77 win behind six unanswered points in the final two minutes.Oklahoma Panhandle State was McPherson’s second opponent of the season last year as the Bulldogs came away with an 81-63 road win, but the Aggies nearly returned the favor inside of McPherson College’s Holman Fieldhouse Friday night before a go-ahead jumper by Aaron Williams Jr.
