Shooting woes plague Bullpups in loss to Thunderbirds

Monday night’s home matchup against Circle was supposed to be a positive beginning to a stretch of three games in four days to end the regular season, but instead the Thunderbirds flipped the script on the Bullpups by winning their first ever contest inside of the Roundhouse by a score of 66-51. Following an 80-46 win over Buhler on Valentine’s Day, McPherson’s record sat at 13-2 after recording four straight wins.

Bullpup and Viking swimmers close out season at state

LENEXA, Kansas – The first of the three winter sports wrapped up this past weekend in Lenexa at the class 5A-1A boys state swim meet, as the McPherson Bullpups/Smoky Valley Vikings fought their way to team points to finish in 31st and 33rd place, respectively. Following the league meet in Hutchinson a week and a half ago, McPherson/Smoky Valley took plenty of momentum into last weekend’s state meet as swimmers Gabe House, Beckett Schuckman, Cooper Bohme, Ethan Elder and Ben Bocox were set to compete.

Bullpup wrestlers send three to state tourney

ABILENE, Kansas – The class 4A boys state wrestling tournament field is officially set, and three Bullpups will be joining the fight as McPherson’s Jase Fitzmorris, Brock Richardson and Catch DeLaney all snatched a top-four finish at regionals to earn a spot at state. A total of 15 teams arrived at Abilene High School for the class 4A west regionals this past Saturday with the thought of sending their wrestlers to the state tournament held in Salina’s Tony’s Pizza Events Center from Friday, February 28 through Saturday, March 1.
