Undefeated Lady Pups punch ticket to 4A state

Grant Sports Complex on Tuesday evening was the place to be not only because both the McPherson High School softball and baseball teams clenched a spot in state but also because the Lady Pups did so in undefeated style, as wins over Clay Center and Mulvane propelled McPherson to a regional championship. As the 2025 softball season has wore on, a special season appeared to be unfolding in McPherson during head coach Daryl Hoelting’s first year as skipper of the Lady Pups.

Bullpups send 19 to state track and field meet

ABILENE, Kansas – America’s largest high school track and field event is now waiting on deck, and the McPherson Bullpups will be competing in 18 different events on that stage as the McPherson boys finished third and the girls fourth at regionals in Abilene last week. The 2025 high school track and field season has finally neared its end with the state meet approaching this weekend.

Summer lunch program begins

McPherson families will have an easier way to get free meals for their children this summer through a new program from USD 418: McPherson Public Schools. The district is offering the SUN Meals to GO Program for the first time, allowing families to pick up five days' worth of breakfasts and lunches at once.
