Barbara “Barb” Ann Bickford, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 surrounded by family in Houston, Texas.

Barbara was born in Little River Kansas in 1951 and was raised by Virgil and Marie Schoen in McPherson, Kansas until she married Stephen Bickford in 1970. Barbara and Steven moved to Houston, Texas where they raised their only child, Trenton Bickford. Barbara returned to McPherson to take care of her aging parents. She was an active member of her community, and ardent lover of animals, especially cats. She volunteered at local animal shelters and helped the aging community in their day to day lives.

The family would like to thank Barb’s enduring friends and community in their unwavering support and love for her in the last years of her life; Patsy Hiebert, Debbie Gray, Kate Fisher, and cousin Jimmy Hultgren and his wife.

Survivors include her only son, Trenton Bickford and his wife Nerissa Bickford of Houston, Texas and their 8 children; her brothers Virgil Schoen, Wayne Schoen, and Billy Schoen and his wife Darla Schoen; and sister Rose Von Dreele.

She was preceded in her death by parents Virgil Schoen and Marie Schoen and brother Cecil Schoen.

Funeral arrangements will be held privately with family and friends at a future time and place. Memorial donations can be sent in her name to McPherson County Humane Society in respect for her commitment and passion for the care of animals.
