Stanley John Vogel, 86, of Eagan, Minn., and formerly of McPherson, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022. He was born in Stuttgart, Kan., went to Phillipsburg High School and graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He was married to Solveig Lund on Aug. 4, 1963. Stan was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather and son. He spent much of his professional life helping those less fortunate and in need, from disadvantaged children to disabled adults. He was an exceptional tennis player his entire life, playing in high school, college and even in the Kansas Senior Olympics.

He was also passionate about baseball, a love he shared with his three sons. Perhaps most important was Stan’s faith in God, which comforted him through his life and in his final days. He is survived by his wife Solveig; his sons Timothy (Becky), Thomas (Jean) and Erik (Danielle); grandchildren Sophia, TJ, Caleb, Naomi, Rowen, Ethan, Savaya, Erin, Amber and Ashlee; and siblings Robert (Sally), Karen (David), Patricia, Peggy and Douglas (Joy). A private memorial will be held on Feb. 12, 2023. A celebration of life will be held next summer in Waverly, Iowa.
