Donna Marie Dooley

12/15/1932 – 3/4/2023

Donna was born Dec. 15th, 1932 in McPherson, KS to George and Eideth Spradlin. She attended McPherson Schools until she graduated high school in 1950. Donna met Joe Dooley in 1952 and the two fell in love. Donna and Joe were married on August 8th, 1954. Shortly after they were married Joe got stationed in Alabama for a short time and Donna went with him. While in Alabama Donna and Joe were blessed with their first son, Tad. Donna and their small family moved back to McPherson and lived for a period of time. While back in McPherson they were blessed with their second son, Dana, in 1959. In 1960 Donna and the family move to Laverne, OK and a year later welcomed their third son Joel. Donna and the family made their home in Laverne where they built a house and had a wonderful life.

While living in Laverne, Donna attended the vocational school of Practical Nursing and received a nursing degree upon graduating in 1968. After getting her nursing degree she worked as a nurse at the Laverne Hospital until it closed its doors in 1976. Following her time at the hospital, Donna worked as a nurse for many years at the Fort Supply Mental Health Hospital where she retired. After retirement Donna and Joe moved to Carney, OK where they bought a small farm and enjoyed retirement together. Later in life when the farm got to be too much to handle. At that point, Donna and Joe moved to Edmond, OK, where she was always a nurse looking after Joe. She lived out the remainder of her life in Edmond, OK. Over the years Donna had many hobbies. She was an avid bowler. She bowled on a league that traveled all over to bowling tournaments. Donna loved gardening and enjoyed planting flowers in the spring wherever she lived. Donna loved taking trips and especially loved taking trips to Minnesota where the family had built a cabin. While in Minnesota she loved to get out on the lake and fish, and she was an excellent angler. While at the cabin, Donna loved to look for wildlife and fed hummingbirds and chipmunks.

Donna was also a very good cook and enjoyed talking food. Donna collected cookbooks and loved trying new recipes. She loved talking food and taught her children and grandchildren how to cook. Donna was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a great friend to all who knew her. Donna will truly be missed. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eideth; husband, Joe; her sister, Doris; and sons, Tad, and Joel. She is survived by her son, Dana Dooley; granddaughters, Hailey Dooley and Skylee Pope; grandson, Travis Dooley; great friend, Pat Pinkard; and many other close friends and family. A service celebrating her life was at 2:00pm on Friday, March 10th at Crawford Funeral Service, Edmond.
