Glenna J. Olson, 79, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Rice County District Hospital in Lyons.

She was born Dec. 24, 1930, to Henry and Gladys Vermillion Glahn in McPherson. She graduted from Roxbury High School in 1948 and was a longtime Lyons resident.

She was a cook at the USD 405 middle school, Sterling College and Camp WaJaTo.  She was a member of the First Christian Church, CWF and a former member of the First Baptist Church, all of Lyons.

Glenna married Willima D. Griffis. The couple later divorced. She married Dale B. Olson Jan. 18, 1981, in Lyons. He passed away March 25, 2001. 

Survivors include: a son, Douglas R. Griffis and wife, Kathy, Cunningham; two daughters, Jo Le A. Burge and Rhonda L. Clark, both of Lyons; two brothers, Don Glahn of McPherson and Dean Glahn of Gypsum; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at the First Christian Church in Lyons and will be officiated by Rev. Don DeVore and Ron Reece. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Valley View Cemetery in Roxbury.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at the Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons. The family will be present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church for the Kid’s Cooking program, in care of the funeral home.
