On Saturday, Oct, 30, at 6 p.m., Tombstone Talks, a lantern-light tour of the McPherson Cemetery, will put you in the mood for Halloween without the fright factor. Cookies and cider will energize you for the walk back in time, as you listen to the stories of local folk. This year’s tour will include unusual tombstones and unique situations involving the people who died.
Cost is $5 for non-members; free to members of the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation, sponsor of the event. Annual Family Membership is $35. Call 620-241-8464 to reserve tickets.
Dress for the weather; wear walking shoes and be advised that the cemetery will not be well-lit. Park at the Mausoleum, at the east end of the cemetery. The tour should take less than an hour.
Stories were researched in part by the McPherson County Historical Society and McPherson Public Library. Income from the event helps fund the operations of the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation.
