McPherson College’s women’s soccer team climbed back to the .500 mark in KCAC play Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Bethany.
The Bulldogs improved to 3-3-1 in the KCAC with two games remaining. They are 6-7-2 overall.
Haley Cook gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead with a goal 21 minutes into the game off a pass by Stachea Perea. Four minutes later, Amanda Aragon scored, which proved to be more than enough for goalie Molly Whitwell, who recorded her fifth blanking of the year.
Mac had an 18-6 advantage in shots.
BETHANY MEN 1, MAC 0 -- The Swedes dealt the Bulldogs a crucial loss, as Mac fell to 4-3 in the KCAC, 7-7-1 on the year.
Scott Jumeaux scored the game-winner with seven minutes left in the first half and the Swedes were able to frustrate the Bulldog offense the entire night, despite Mac having a 17-14 advantage in shots.
The Bulldogs and Swedes now share fourth place in the conference, with the Swedes holding the tiebreaker.
Mac begins the final week of the regular season here Wednesday hosting Southwestern before closing Saturday at KCAC leader Kansas Wesleyan.
