Readers of all ages will travel the world this summer as McPherson Public Library presents “One World, Many Stories” during their summer reading program.  The library is offering special reading programs for three different age groups – and each of them has a cool and refreshing theme.

“One World, Many Stories” is the theme for the highly-popular children’s summer program.  Kids will travel the globe through stories, songs, games and other activities about Russia, Japan, Mexico, Africa and many other countries. Join us this summer for special performers, snack bunch, lunch bunch, puppets, storytelling workshops and book groups, to list a few of the activities.

Kids can pick up a summer reading game board and read books all summer long to earn prizes.

To register children for regularly scheduled summer programs, visit the library, call them at 245-2570, or register online by visiting the library web site at and selecting the Children’s Programs option.

Special performers for children this summer include musician Monty Harper’s “Wacky Witty World of Songs” and The Wacky World of Magician Eric Vaughn!

Teens are encouraged to participate in “You Are Here,” from June 2-August 15. Teens are invited to come to the Library and read for prizes as well as take part in special events offered throughout the summer.

Special events for teens this summer include two movie nights, origami, and Henna Art night. Teens can register for all programs beginning June 2nd.

Adults ready for the summer reading will not be left out of the fun.  There will be prizes for reading books representing different continents in “Novel Destinations”, the Adult Summer Reading program.  Adult readers can also participate in book discussions, weekly drawings, and other fun summer events.

Registration for the adult program begins on May 31st.  Patrons who stop at the service desk to sign up will get a prize just for getting on board!
