The doubting Thomases are doubting the Bethany College Swedes no more.

The 16th-ranked Swedes proved they’re indeed the real deal as they went into the back yard of bitter arch-rival Kansas Wesleyan and delivered a 25-0 smackdown on a Coyote team that is now for all intents and purposes out of the KCAC championship race.

The streaking Swedes rode the booming leg of Alex Fambrough and a uber-quick defense that does nothing but get better every game in winning for the fourth straight time, the third straight win in conference play.

Bethany and Ottawa are the only remaining unbeatens in KCAC play.

The only negative, if you can call it that, for the Swedes was their inability to finish drives. Had they been able to, this could have been a blowout of outlandish proportions. Bethany piled up 466 yards of offense, but the only TD was a 35-yard scamper by All-America candidate Junior Allen, who finished with 167 yards on 33 carries.

The rest was up to Fambrough and the defense. Fambrough drilled treys covering 32, 30, 37, 47, 48 and 35 yards.

It was a 19-0 game at half and the way the Bethany defense was playing, it probably seemed like 49.

Wesleyan, which broke numerous offensive school records last year, turned it over four times and managed just 283 yards on 73 snaps, less than four yards a play.

Darby House had another efficient night throwing the ball for Bethany, completing 18 of 34 for 283 yards, with eight different Swedes catching an aerial.

Bethany takes a break from KCAC play Saturday when it goes on the road to play Avila in Kansas City, Mo.
