“Hello!” from the McPherson County Extension Office!

“Hello!” from the McPherson County Extension Office!

My name is Lindsey Friesen, 4-H youth development agent for McPherson County. I wanted to share with you a little bit about myself as I am new to the McPherson community.

I grew up just down Interstate 135 in Newton, and was an 11 year 4-H member in Harvey County. After attending Kansas State University, I started my path toward a career centered on youth. I previously worked as an elementary school paraprofessional, 4-H program assistant in the Central Kansas District (Saline and Ottawa counties) and most recently was the 4-H youth development agent in Butler County.

If I am not at a 4-H event, you might find me spending time with my two paint horses (Thunder and Rocky), sewing, baking or spending time with my family back home. I love music and theater, as well, and can’t wait to discover opportunities in McPherson and all the surrounding communities.

As a 4-H youth development extension agent, I will provide leadership in our communities by developing and delivering educational programming relative to building life skills in children and teens, including a positive self-concept, an inquiring mind, a concern for the community, healthy interpersonal relationships and sound decision making.

I am very blessed to have many experiences leading up to this position and do believe one of the most important things in life is learning.

Henry Ford once said, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at 20 or 80. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”

I am excited to continue learning as I work in this position of Research and Extension as well as share that knowledge and information with the community! Please stop by the Extension Office any time to say hello!
