Highlights

1. The McPherson Chamber of Commerce Business and Membership Committee will host this forum for McPherson City Commission. Candidates for City Commission are Mike Alkire (the incumbent) and Larry Wiens.

2 .The format will start with a three-minute opening statement, which should focus on their reason for seeking office and their experience and/or qualifications. The candidates will then answer two prepared questions within a two-minute time limit per question. The candidates will have received these questions in advance. The format is question-and-answer as opposed to debate.

3. Questions will be taken from the audience as they arrive, and candidates will have an opportunity to answer them. Questions may be sent in advance via email to jennifer@mcphersonks.org. Questions will be screened for duplication, legibility and suitability. Candidates will have one minute to address each audience question. The forum will be followed up with a one-minute closing statement from each of the candidates.

Why you should attend

“I think it’s important for us as a community to vote for the person who has the city’s best interests in mind. This forum will help us determine the best candidate suited to the task.”
