Julie Kay Miller-Richey, age 55, of Grove, Oklahoma and formerly of Canton, passed from this life on March 7, 2015, in Grove after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
She was born April 6, 1959, the daughter of Robert "Tom" Miller and Eve (Stalnaker) Miller, in McPherson. She attended Canton-Galva Schools where she graduated in 1977 and went on to graduate from Ft. Hays State University in Fort Hays. Julie taught High School English and coached Girls Soccer in Round Rock, Texas.
She enjoyed attending rodeos with her family and training her dogs. Julie's home at the time of her death was the Grove Nursing Home in Grove, Oklahoma, where she had many friends. Her nurses were her second family and they were devoted to her. She was a Christian and a devoted family member.
Julie is survived by her husband, Robert Richey of Grove, Oklahoma; mother, Eve Miller of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brother, Lonnie Miller and wife Joni of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; niece, Melissa Miller of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nephew, Matthew Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and step-son Cory Smithhart. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert "Tom" Miller. Julie was loved very much and will be missed by her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Roxbury Valley View Cemetery in Roxbury. A memorial has been established with the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, in care of Olson’s Mortuary, Canton.
