Middle School Pups take mat for first time

WINFIELD, Kansas – Although football and soccer have yet to wrap up to end the fall sports season, a sneak peek into winter sports was provided by the McPherson Middle School wrestling team as the Bullpups traveled to Winfield for their first competition on Monday, October 30.Monday’s competition between McPherson and Winfield featured weight classes from 80 pounds all of the way up to 215 pounds, with nine Bullpups across those weight classes navigating their way to an undefeated record in the Patriot League showdown.Ace Aichele went 2-0 in the 85-pound weight class, Jake Evans went 1-0 in the 95-pound weight class, Madison Burkes went 2-0 in the 105-pound weight class, Seth Turner went 1-0 in the 110-pound weight class, Ethan Young, Luke Farley and Obi Stevenson all went 1-0 in the 134-pound weight class, Colt Harlin went 1-0 in the 148-pound weight class and Carter Leathers went 2-0 in the 215-pound weight class.Other Bullpups that left the competition with at least one match win included Micah Foster and Colson Barrow each going 1-1 in the 80-pound weight class, Kynasen Hancock going 1-1 in the 85-pound weight class, Carter Rinker going 1-1 in the 90-pound weight class, Max Crane going 1-1 in the 120-pound weight class, EJ Sellens going 1-1 in the 165-pound weight class and Ryker Bascue going 1-1 in the 180-pound weight class.Full McPherson Results:80 lb.
