Bullpup tennis medals three, claims sixth at state

WINFIELD, Kansas – The end of the of the McPherson High School boys tennis team’s season has arrived, but not before the Bullpups went down swinging as McPherson earned a sixth-place finish at the class 4A state tournament in Winfield on Saturday, May 17. After a successful regional tournament at Scott City in which McPherson claimed the regional team title and qualified its entire varsity roster for state, the Bullpups embarked on a journey to Winfield where they would compete in the class 4A state tournament beginning on Friday, May 16.

Teutons back in state after regional dominance

INMAN, Kansas – Two McPherson County softball teams will be represented at their respective state tournaments this week, and one of those teams will be coming from Inman as the Teutons are back in the class 2A-1A state tournament after defeating Bennington for the regional title. The two softball teams that will be advancing to state in McPherson County are the McPherson Lady Pups (class 4A) and the Inman Teutons.

Summer lunch program begins

McPherson families will have an easier way to get free meals for their children this summer through a new program from USD 418: McPherson Public Schools. The district is offering the SUN Meals to GO Program for the first time, allowing families to pick up five days' worth of breakfasts and lunches at once.

Canton plans water outage

Residents on the south side of Canton will be without water during the day Tuesday through Friday as the city replaces a fire hydrant on Fairview road. The outage will likely affect all customers south of Railroad Street to US 56 between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM.
