Bullpups split quad amidst stiff competition

A second quad in three days saw the McPherson High School baseball team competing against some of the top talent in the state on Friday, but for a second straight time the Bullpups fell in the quad title game after losing 1-0 to Rock Creek.

Busy Bullpups near postseason action

MAIZE, Kansas – On back-to-back days last week, the McPherson High School boys tennis team took road trips to compete against top-tier schools in the state as the Bullpups came away with fourth and third place finishes, respectively, at Buhler and Maize. In its first outing since the annual Doug Gayer Classic, McPherson traveled to Buhler for an invite to compete against Buhler, Andover Central, Goddard-Eisenhower, Valley Center, Sterling and Dodge City.

Marathon madness: Lady Pups outlast Raiders in 18-inning thriller

Not even a man with 24 years of high school softball coaching experience had witnessed a game like Friday night’s, as the McPherson High School softball team stayed undefeated by winning an 18-inning marathon 3-2 over two-time defending state champion Wamego. Leading McPherson into the heavyweight matchup was first-year coach Daryl Hoelting, who spent the past 24 years of his high school coaching career at Salina South and Salina-Sacred Heart.
