Bullpups complete third signing day

The third of four signing days for McPherson High School was completed on Wednesday as Bullpup seniors Connor McVicker, Gavin Richardson, Roman Mai and Simon Lyon all put ink to paper and chose their next destination at the college level.

USD 418 School Board Finalizes Scope of Bond After Months of Community Input

The USD 418 Board of Education is finalizing a facility proposal this week, after over a year and a half of work on the project. The $88 million proposal focuses on upgrading aging high school facilities with a new academic building for grades 9-12, as well as renovations to the Performing Arts wing, CTE classrooms, and Roundhouse.

Wrestling goes top ten in latest tournaments

The McPherson High School wrestling team continued its push towards the postseason last week, as both the girls and boys teams earned top-10 finishes at Remington and Junction City. At Remington, both McPherson teams earned a sixth-place finish with the girls earning 48 team points and the boys 47.

Connie Jo Young, 67, passed away on January 28, 2023. She was born in McPherson, KS on August 13, 1955 to Doris and June (Hanson) Young.

WENDEL LEON FOLKERTS

Wendel Leon Folkerts was born on September 16, 1939, in a rural Timken, KS farm home to Arnold Folkerts and Wilhelmina Margareta “Minnie” (Suchy) Folkerts. He passed from life to eternal life peacefully at age 83 on February 1, 2023.

Real Men Sing returns to Bethany College for ninth year

On Jan. 26, 2023, the Real Men Sing vocal workshop at Bethany College brought over 400 young men, grades 5-12, from 34 schools across Kansas. These young men spent the day working with music professionals in one of three groups. The High School Choir, conducted by Paul Neal, Associate Professor of Music at Berry College performed “Leave Her Johnny”, arranged by Daniel Lynch, and “Tuba”, arranged by Michael Marrett. The Changing Voices Choir, conducted by Greg Bontrager, Buhler High School vocal music teacher, and Nicholas Griggs, McPherson High School vocal teacher performed “Vive L’Amour” arranged by Bobby Siltman, and “Wade in the Water” arranged by Dan Davidson. The Unchanged Voice Choir, conducted by Alex Underwood, Hays High School choir teacher, performed “Pie Jesu” by Mary Lynn Lightfoot and “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers arranged by Robert T. Gibson. The final performance was “God Bless America” performed by all choirs combined.
