Newman University has released its 2022 fall Dean’s List. A total of 419 undergraduate students achieved the qualifications required, completing at least 12 credit hours and achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Top scholars at Southwestern College in Winfield and at Southwestern College Professional Studies have been announced with the release of the Dean’s Honor Roll for the fall 2022 semester. Full-time students who earned grade point averages of at least 3.70 (4.0 equals an A) were eligible for the honor.

ELYRIA – The Elyria Christian girls leaned on the work of senior Ryland Hawkinson Friday to score a 19-point, 37-18 homecourt win over Canton/Galva as both teams began the 2023 side of the season schedule.
The start of 2023 was good to the McPherson High School wrestling teams, as the Bullpup boys took home second place and the girls took home sixth place in the teams’ meet in Burlington on Saturday. On the boys’ side, McPherson’s 167 team points was good enough for a second-place finish, which only fell shy of Baldwin’s first-place finish with a team total of 208 points.
ELYRIA – The Elyria Christian boys opened their 2023 side of the schedule on Friday by hosting cross county rival Canton/Galva and then using a strong fourth quarter to gain a 52-39 win. After Canton/Galva jumped out to an eight-point, 19-11 first quarter lead, Elyria bounced back to outscore Canton/Galva 19-4 in the second quarter and take a seven- point, 30-23 lead as the teams broke for the halftime break.
