McPherson County sends three to Shrine Bowl

MCPHERSON – Although state championship games were finished back in November, the Kansas high school football season isn’t over quite yet as three McPherson County players will suit up one last time for the 2023 and 50th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl on Saturday, July 15.

ReUse It Center saving resources to serve others

Looking to get rid of the old and bring in the new for the start of 2023? If so, you might consider donating to the ReUse It Center, which gives building materials a second life. Your “old” could become someone else’s “new”. Or maybe you have a goal to volunteer more this year. The ReUse It Center can help you with that too.

Routine Reflections

We’ve arrived at another intersection of old and new. A time where we say goodbye to one year while also welcoming another. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” has been sung, well-wishes have been said, and new goals have been declared.

Welcome to the world New Year Baby, JD Jameson!

I was born on Jan. 9, 1999, and even though I was born a week after New Year’s Day, I was the first baby born to a family in Rawlins County Kans., in the year 1999. I was featured in the Atwood newspaper with pictures, gift certificates and I earned several savings bonds. I still cherish those clippings. They are part of the reason I grew to love newspapers and am a reporter today, because of my love of local journalism and traditions like these.

Celebration of 2022

MCPHERSON – With another new chapter flipping to 2023, I figured it was time to dust off my column writing skills and toss in my two cents. First off, congratulations to those of you that are currently reading this in the paper.
