LINDSBORG, Kansas – At first glance, a Swede and a farm animal would appear to not have much in common. However, Bethany College’s Dr. Joyce Pigge was honored on Friday, September 23 when the college celebrated the volleyball team’s 50th anniversary and the opening of the new women’s locker rooms that were named in her honor.

The month of October is Principal Appreciation Month for the education system in Kansas. Throughout the month, the McPherson Sentinel will be giving a spotlight to principals and other leaders from different towns throughout McPherson County. It is also a way to introduce and recognize area principals who have been at the schools for a short or long time.

The McPherson Opera House Company Board of Directors is excited to announce that Karissa Hoffman has been named as the new Executive Director for the McPherson Opera House. Hoffman is from Marquette and currently resides in McPherson with her husband and two little girls. Hoffman graduated from Central Christian College with a degree in Organizational Leadership. For the last six years, Hoffman has worked in development within higher education, including positions with Central Christian College, Wichita State University, and Bethany College.
James “Jim” G. Hulsey, 77, of Howard, KS, passed away October 11, 2022, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS.
