The month of October is Principal Appreciation Month for the education system in Kansas. Throughout the month, the McPherson Sentinel will be giving a spotlight to principals and other leaders from different towns throughout McPherson County. It is also a way to introduce and recognize area principals who have been at the schools for a short or long time.
Thursday night was the last night of the community input session meetings for the McPherson Board of Education to evaluate the school facilities’ needs and priorities going forward with the bond process.
HUTCHINSON, Kansas – The game may have been lost but an identity was found in the process, as the McPherson Bullpups boys soccer team dropped an overtime showdown against Hutchinson 2-1 Thursday night in a tightly contested contest.
SALINA – On Monday, the McPherson Middle School girls tennis team closed out an outstanding season with a trip to Salina and dominating their division meet for the Wichita Suburban League and earning a league title.
MCPHERSON – As if losing 18-16 to Mulvane in the playoffs last season wasn’t enough motivation for the McPherson Bullpups football team, then senior night put it over the top, as McPherson rolled over the Wildcats 4621 on Friday night.
The McPherson Opera House Company Board of Directors is excited to announce that Karissa Hoffman has been named as the new Executive Director for the McPherson Opera House. Hoffman is from Marquette and currently resides in McPherson with her husband and two little girls. Hoffman graduated from Central Christian College with a degree in Organizational Leadership. For the last six years, Hoffman has worked in development within higher education, including positions with Central Christian College, Wichita State University, and Bethany College.
James “Jim” G. Hulsey, 77, of Howard, KS, passed away October 11, 2022, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS.
Ralph H. Herrold, 82, passed away on October 9, 2022, in Leawood, KS. He was born in McPherson, KS to JB and Erma Herrold and is preceded in death by his wife Jackie. He is survived by children Jack and Deidra, daughter in law Michelle and grandchildren Nick, Eleanor and Claire. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 on October 24 at the McPherson KS Church of Christ.
