MCPHERSON – Tuesday served as more than a typical weekday tennis tournament win for the McPherson High School girls tennis team. Instead, it was the annual Doug Gayer Classic tournament that honors the late former high school tennis coach.

SOLOMON – Remaining unbeaten for the season, the Canton/Galva football team for the second game in a row earned a win by halftime point rule when they went into Solomon on Friday and earned a 58-6 victory.

Smoky Valley Gets 46-12 Win over Larned

LINDSBORG – Nearly matching their winning score from week two, the Smoky Valley football team scored win number two in a row at home on Friday when they buried Larned 46-12. The win raises the Vikings season mark to 2-1 for the season as they now prepare for a huge test this Friday when they make a road trip to unbeaten and Class 3A top ranked Andale.

Brunk takes over Lady Pups swimming program

Swimming season may not be happening until the next calendar year for the McPherson High School girls swimming team, but bubbles are already stirring in the water as the high school announced Angela Brunk as the new head coach of the program.

Redskins Use 2nd Half Hustle to Earn 46-14 Win

LIITLE RIVER – Little River, currently ranked number two in 8-Man Division I football, needed a strong second half on Friday to gain a home field 46-14 win over Ell-Saline. The Redskins put the first points on the board in the first quarter when Braxton Lafferty found a lane and dashed 41 yards to the end zone and with Braden Young’s twopoint conversion, Little River was up 8-0 early.
