Moundridge Football Gets New Coach, New Expectations

MOUNDRIDGE – It was a bit of a disappointing season in 2021 for the Moundridge football program and they look to rebound in 2022 with new expectations from a new coach. Bret Lange finally gets a shot at leading the Wildcat football program after being part of the coaching staff for nineteen seasons.

Teutons Aim Again for State Championship

INMAN – For the Inman football program, the 2021 season was magical as they held opponents to just 14 touchdowns while dominating their way through the schedule, going 6-0 in district play before finishing 12-1 after losing to Olpe in the Class 1A state championship game.

Bullpups serve up first place finish

HESSTON, Kansas – The start of the athletic season for McPherson High School fell on the shoulders of the girls tennis team, but the Bullpups delivered in a big way by recording a fourth-place finish for the JV team in Buhler and a first-place finish for the varsity team in Hesston.

Smoky Valley Girls Tennis Open Season at Hesston

HESSTON – The Smoky Valley girls tennis team made their 2022 season debut on Wednesday by taking third at the Hesston Invitational. With 18 team points, the Lady Vikings placed third behind invitational champion McPherson who had 25 points and runner-up Buhler with 21.

USDA invests in Kansas communities

MCPHERSON – In an attempt to help promote emergency preparedness and clean energy, the United States Department of Agriculture has invested $639,854 in 15 communities across rural Kansas. The large investment will help the construction of critical infrastructures in the 15 Kansas communities to help reduce and save energy, and one of the communities chosen was Lindsborg.

24 states get $560M for high-priority cleanup of wells

NEW ORLEANS (AP) ‚Äî The Interior Department is giving 24 states a total of $560 million to start cleaning high-priority oil and gas wells abandoned on state and private land. A news release said up to 10,000 wells could be dealt with under grants announced Thursday. It’s part of $4.7 billion set for orphan well cleanup under the bipartisan infrastructure plan approved late last year. The department has said $1.15 billion will be given out during this fiscal year. Most of the states are getting $25 million each. Arkansas and Mississippi are getting $5 million each.
