Without doubt, the cowboy is America’s national hero. Each year legendary Kansas cowboys are honored for their contributions to the western life as they are inducted into the Kansas Cowboy Hall of Fame in Dodge City. The Kansas Cowboy Hall of Fame honors these individuals at a ceremony each year.

Bullpup baseball struggles over weekend

MCPHERSON – For most of the 2022 baseball season, the McPherson Bullpup baseball teams have enjoyed a healthy amount of success on the baseball diamond. However, that success was halted over the weekend for the 17 and 16 and under Bullpup teams as the two combined for a 2-5-1 record in their respective tournaments.

Thrown for a curve: Pipeliners edged by Curve late

MCPHERSON – For a brief moment the stars appeared to align for the McPherson Pipeliners as the team was looking for its first consecutive win of the season and only its fourth win overall, but the Kansas Curve threw a wrench into those plans by using a late surge in the ninth inning to win the game 5-2.

Monumental: Inman VBS raises offering for KSDS

INMAN, Kansas – The city of Inman provided monumental efforts in more ways than one this week, as the city’s churches combined for its annual Vacation Bible School camp Sunday through Thursday and helped raise funds and items for the Kansas Specialty Dog Service (KSDS) during the process.

Pipeliners edge Moos in walk-off fashion

The win column and the McPherson Pipeliners haven’t exactly been on speaking terms throughout the course of the summer, but Friday evening the Pipeliners broke the tension by adding the team’s third win in 25 tries as McPherson took down the Midwest Moos 7-6 in a walk-off thriller at Bulldog Park.

James D. Gaeddert

James D. (Jim) Gaeddert, 83, of Mound Ridge, KS and Leawood, KS, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, after a short stay in the hospital. Jim was the son of Walter and Harriett (Knowles) Gaeddert, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard (Dick) Gaeddert, Allen Gaeddert and Walter Jr. (stillborn), and his high school sweetheart, and wife, Karen (Kaufman) Gaeddert. Survivors include Jim and Karen’s four children and their families; Doug (1959), Greg (1961), Brad (1966), and Janelle (1967), all of whom now mourn his passing but will remember his sense of humor, honesty, integrity, and generosity along with the unconditional love he had for them.
