MCPHERSON – At the end of the last wrestling season, veteran McPherson High School wrestling coach Doug Kretzer announced his retirement at the conclusion of the season, which left McPherson searching for its first wrestling coach in more than 20 years. The search and wait for that new coach is over, as the Bullpups announced the coaching hire of Mike Davison on Tuesday, April 12th.
TOWANDA, Kansas – The McPherson High School boys tennis team has had the unfortunate luxury of battling through winds in nearly every start this season but, even through the winds, the varsity team has managed at least a top three finish in every event. Thursday’s quad meet at Circle High School was more of the same as McPherson took home first place.
SALINA, Kansas – Expectations were high for the McPherson High School soccer team at the start of the season, and they were ranked No. 2 in class 4A-1A. Although the Bullpups like the high expectations and the eyes on their team, it may have led to a tense start to their season.
BURRTON – It was big day Tuesday for both the Inman boys and girls track/field teams as they both recorded big dominating wins at the six-team Burrton Invitational. With the Lady Teutons rolling up 132 team points, they easily outdistanced second-place Sterling by 20 points while Hutchinson Central Christian finished a distant third with 93.
MOUNDRIDGE – With winds causing issues on Tuesday, the Canton/Galva track/field teams still managed to find some successes at the six-team Moundridge track meet with the Eagles earning a pair of gold medals among nine total medal wins.
REMINGTON – Once again the Little River boys and girls track/field teams came up short of a team championship as they both placed second in the team standings on Tuesday at the six-team Remington Invitational.
CANTON – They came close twice on Tuesday, but the Canton/Galva baseball team could not finish them out and lost both ends of a doubleheader on the road at Marion, losing 8-5 and 10-8. Now 0-6 on the season, the Eagles will work at getting that elusive first win on Friday when they play at Bennington.
WICHITA, Kansas – It wasn’t the start that the McPherson Bullpups girls soccer team had in mind to start the season, but it was necessary in order for the team to start to discover what it’s capable of. The beginning of that start has been in motion since the Bullpup’s 2-1 overtime win over Augusta, and it continued on Monday night after defeating Wichita Trinity Academy 5-1 on the opponents own turf.
