Humane Society at capacity: seeks help

The McPherson County Humane Society (MCHS) takes in cats and kittens from strays to those whose owners can no longer keep them. The organization does its best not to turn any away, so the shelter gets a little crowded at times. The shelter limit is 50-55 cats, and they are at capacity according to McPherson County Humane Society Director Erin Eskildsen.

Jayhawks bring high ceiling into new season

With the start of the 2023-2024 college basketball season being several months away, I figured I might as well start some unnecessary and unwanted conversations on the outlook of the upcoming season by taking a look at the insane amount of potential that the Kansas Jayhawks bring into next season.

Commission meetings rescheduled

The McPherson County Commission will not meet this week due to the July 4th holiday. The commission will meet next on July 10 at 9 a.m. in the first-floor conference room of the County Building located at 122 W. Marlin St.

Mastermind McPherson County Summit scheduled

Summer is a great time in Kansas. As Kansans we can get out, take walks, play ball, spend time with friends and neighbors and find out what’s been going on. McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) has been out in the community too, working to collect ideas, priorities, and information about our communities. Starting in March we began a campaign to solicit opinions and priorities from our county and communities; Inman, Canton, Marquette just to name a few.

PGU continues growth in Canton-Galva

CANTON, Kansas – Throughout history, McPherson County has always had deep roots in the sport of basketball as a plethora of state titles have been won between the six county high schools. Another chapter was added to that history this week after Point Guard University (PGU) made its way to Canton-Galva High School for a four-day youth basketball camp.
