Watch out for deer

Aaron Spare, a 31-year-old resident of McPherson, was traveling north on I-135 on June 3 when he struck a deer close to mile marker 87. The deer was killed when it went through Spare’s 2010 Toyota Corolla’s windshield. Spare is fine.

McPherson County Students earn honors

Nearly 4,000 Kansas State University students have earned semester honors for their academic performance in the spring 2023 semester. Students earning a grade point average for the semester of 3.75 or above on at least 12 graded credit hours receive semester honors along with commendations from their deans.

Commissioners approve Summer Kick-off

Lauren Pesek, McPherson Main Street Director and Cord Nestor, Operator of Whiskey Wagon presented commissioners with a request for a Special Event Alcohol Permit for the McPherson Main Street Summer Kick-off on the Plaza Event to be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the Plaza in downtown McPherson.

Youth Rodeo kicks off 2023 season

CANTON – One of the 2023 spring/summer events that not many seem to know about in the McPherson Area is the rodeo season for the Central Kansas Youth Rodeo Association (CKYRA). Back in May over the weekend of May 13-14, the CKYRA kicked off their 2023 season with an event that featured 25 McPherson County youth competitors.

French and Hoover medal at state golf

WINFIELD, Kansas – The close of the McPherson High School boys golf season saw medals hanging from the necks of two Bullpup golfers, as senior Trakker French (fifth place) and junior Blaise Hoover (tied 22nd place) each went top 25 at the class 4A state golf tournament on May 22 through 23.
