Regional revenge: Lady Pups capture state birth

jmuhs@cherryroad.com One year removed from losing a heartbreaker to Rock Creek in the regional championship game, the McPherson High School softball team claimed its revenge by defeating Winfield and Abilene in Tuesday’s regional at Grant Complex en route to clinching a spot in the 2023 state tournament.

McPherson police dispatched to YMCA

According to a statement from the McPherson Police Department, McPherson police officers were dispatched to the YMCA in McPherson on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 4:45 p.m. The department responded to a call the YMCA staff received concerning a known person within the YMCA carrying a gun.

Back again: Lady Pups soccer cruises to regional championship

Two days after the McPherson High School baseball and softball team claimed their own respective regional titles, the girls soccer team added one more to the list as the Lady Pups blitzed Thomas More Prep 12-0 on Tuesday and glided past Wichita Collegiate 4-0 on Thursday to punch their ticket to the state quarterfinals.

Bullpup track and field send twenty-eight to state

BUHLER, Kansas One final hurdle remained for the McPherson High School track and field teams before America’s largest state high school track and field meet takes place this weekend, and the Bullpups cleared that hurdle with ease as a total of 28 Bullpup athletes qualified for state at Thursday, May 18th’s regional at Buhler.

Students honored by the Teachers College

Congratulations to the more than 100 Emporia State University students who received special recognition by The Teachers College at the end of the 2022-23 academic year. Twenty-four received outstanding student awards and 96 students were honored for achievement of a 3.8 grade point average or higher.
